Application Information
All application materials must be submitted through the DOE SCGF online system by November 30, 2009 at 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time. Applicants may send transcripts by mail directly to ORISE but they must be postmarked no later than November 30, 2009. Applicants should create an account on the DOE SCGF online application system well before the application deadline and become familiar with the application information requested.
The online application system allows the applicant to track whether or not their application is complete, including the status of letters of reference. All parts of the application are due by 12:00 midnight Pacific Standard Time on November 30th. An application that does not have all of the required elements by the deadline will be determined incomplete and will not be considered further.
The information provided in the applicant’s responses to the application questions and the two essay questions will be reviewed and evaluated against established merit review criteria. It is recommended that the applicant review the Application Evaluation section prior to completing the application questions and essays. To be competitive, the applicant must provide the specific details requested.
Elements of the Application
In addition to meeting the Eligibility requirements, applicants must provide the following to be considered for the DOE SCGF program:
- A completed online application with all relevant fields answered, including two essay questions.
- An academic transcript is required for every institution the applicant lists on the online application. Applicants can select one of two methods for submitting transcripts; 1) uploading a scanned copy of official transcripts to the application, or 2) mailing transcripts directly to ORISE.
- Three letters of reference. The persons providing letters of reference should be able to speak to the applicant’s abilities and potential.
