The search for public funding for research is often centered around a handful of patentable designs and processes that fund the pure science that comes out of a laboratory. By focusing attention to the stories of the researchers themselves and their accomplishments and downfalls in theoretical research, taxpayers may be willing to fund more research done for its intrinsic value as opposed to research that will directly affect their everyday technological interactions.
