Science & Energy Research Challenge - SERCh A National Science Competition - In Search of Energy Solutions

The Department of Energy is hosting the premier student scientific research competition of the year for undergraduate student interns funded by DOE and other students. The 2009 event will be hosted by Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

The 2009 Science and Energy Research Challenge (SERCh) Poster Competition showcases the research projects of DOE-funded undergraduate students and interns at the national laboratories. One-hundred student researchers will convene in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to present their research in poster form. During the competition weekend, students and a designated university faculty advisor, along with laboratory personnel, will attend seminars and tour user facilities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Student researchers will vie for awards in each of six categories; 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place, for $3000, $1500, and $1000 scholarships, respectively. One overall winner will receive a grand prize scholarship of a total of $10,000 ($3000 for 1st in category & $7000 for overall winner).
